GCS的高速850nm的多模垂直腔表面發射激光器（VCSEL）晶片的設計主要是為消費型AOC（Active Optical Cable）及光學USB（OUSB）的應用以滿足10Gbps的數據通訊的性能而特別量身定做。此一高性能元件具有高可靠性與高達10Gb/s的數據傳輸速率及低的電寄生（low electrical parasitics）。VCSEL具有圓形的低發散光束，可以有效地耦合到50/125或62.5/125 um的多模光纖。這種類型的元件可佈局成線性1X4、1X8、1x12的陣列，以提供高達100Gbps的應用。
