GCS的高速850nm的多模垂直腔表面发射激光器（VCSEL）晶片的设计主要是为消费型AOC（Active Optical Cable）及光学USB（OUSB）的应用以满足10Gbps的数据通讯的性能而特别量身定做。此一高性能元件具有高可靠性与高达10Gb/s的数据传输速率及低的电寄生（low electrical parasitics）。VCSEL具有圆形的低发散光束，可以有效地耦合到50/125或62.5/125 um的多模光纤。这种类型的元件可布局成线性1X4、1X8、1x12的阵列，以提供高达100Gbps的应用。
