Communication Semiconductors, Inc. Announces New President & CEO

1, 2005, TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA --- Global
Communication Semiconductors Inc. (GCS), a leading pure-play III-V compound
semiconductor wafer foundry service provider, today announced that
its Board of Directors has appointed Jerry L. Curtis to succeed Sam
Lee as the company's president and chief executive officer.
Jerry
brings more than 30 years of successful business and leadership
experience in the semiconductor industry, including leading gallium
arsenide (GaAs), optoelectronics, Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems (MEMS)
and silicon company experience.
Before
joining GCS, Jerry was president and chief operating officer of EiC
Corporation from 2000 to June 2005. At EiC he led the sale of the
majority of EiC's semiconductor components business and assets to WJ
Communications. Prior to joining EiC, Jerry had been president and
chief operating officer at Opteck Technology Inc., where he led new
product development in high growth market segments to significantly
increase sales growth. Before joining Opteck, Jerry spent 26 years
with Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector in Phoenix, Arizona.
Sam
Lee retired as president and CEO of GCS. During his two and a half
year tenure, Sam had successfully improved GCS' operational
efficiency and financial results, positioning GCS to reach positive
EBITDA performance in the near future.
