Bert Kus Joins Global Communication Semiconductors as VP of Manufacturing

New Vice President Leads Company’s High-Volume Manufacturing Effort

Torrance, CA – January 10, 2000 – 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time -- Mr. Bert Kus has joined Global Communication Semiconductors (GCS) Inc. as Vice President of Manufacturing. Reporting to Dr. Owen Wu, President and CEO, Kus will be responsible for managing all aspects of manufacturing efforts as the company’s business expands.

"We are very pleased to have Bert join us", states Dr. Wu, "We are expecting tremendous growth opportunities for the company in the next few years. Bert joins us at a perfect time to help ramp up our manufacturing capabilities in meeting our customers’ high volume demand."

Mr. Kus possesses more than 20 years of manufacturing experience. Most recently, he served as Plant Manager of the GaAs IC Operation at Conexant Systems. Mr. Kus also brings high-volume manufacturing experience from American Microsystems and Texas Instruments.

Global Communication Semiconductors Inc., based in Torrance, California, is an ISO 9002 certified company. GCS provides compound semiconductor foundry services to the telecommunication and high-speed networking industries. It currently offers HBT foundry service for both InGaP and AlGaAs processes. Additionally, GCS is delivering optoelectonic devices such as VCSEL and PIN diodes for fiber communication market and is providing SAW filter foundry service for handset applications. The company also plans to offer PHEMT foundry services in the first quarter of 2000.
